The default stick is a WWII KG12 grip replica, so it's not as ergonomic and doesn't have a lot of buttons even with the mode/shift functions.Look for the VKB-Sim Gladiator Mk.II (currently ~95 euro)* which uses magnetoresistive sensors for the axis, meaning there's no wear on the sensors from using the stick because there's no physical friction going on like with potmeters. I've only found one joystick in that low price range that seems to be build well. Most of the mass market ones are made of very poor creaky plastics and potmeters for the axis sensors, they fall apart and lose precision within a few months. I've been looking for a decent stick as well recently and after doing a ton of research this is what I found. I was obviously willing to spend ~$450 when I was considering the Warthog, and probably would if there was a convincing argument, but under $200 would be much more palatable. Are there any other HOTAS that match the in-game ones, that I should consider?.What are the differences between the X52 and the X52 Pro? There also seems to be Saitek versions and Logitech G versions of each.Do you think there's value in having your HOTAS match the game ones?.Are the in-game HOTAS based on the X52? - any specific version of it?.I think it would be super cool to have my HOTAS match the in-game ones, so now I have a few questions. Last night, I had an incredible experience with VR (Lenovo Explorer), and I think that's how I'm going to play the game from now on, which has potentially made me change my mind yet again. First it was the Warthog, but the lack of rudder control (I will probably never have rudder pedals), and the price made me change my mind to the T.16000M. I thought I had settled on what I was buying a couple of different times.

Until I got my sim rig, I had used T-Flight HOTAS X on my desk, which have been incredible for the price, but I've decided to treat myself to an upgrade, though it's also somewhat out of necessity because the cable attaching the throttle and joystick with the T-Flight HOTAS X will not be practical in the rig. I just built a sim racing rig (Simetik K2), and I'll soon be adding HOTAS mounts to it for Elite Dangerous.
